Transmissible Cancer

Back in high school I had to read Daphne Du Maurier's Rebecca and there is a scene in the book where one of the characters asks if cancer is transmissible.  The answer, of course, is only if you are a dog, Tasmanian devil or Syrian hamster.  Each of these three animals have a form of cancer which can be transmitted from one animal to the other.  As a general rule cancer is not transmissible but Devil Facial Tumour Disease, Caninne Transmissible Veneral Tumour and contagious reticulum cell sarcoma of the Syrian hamsters form the three exceptions.

It should be noted that the transmissible cancer in Tasmanian devils is seriously endangering the species' survivial.
