Stupa

If you speak Yiddish you might be somewhat concerned at the phonetics of this post's title.  Worry not!  A stupa is a Buddhist religious monument. The earliest ones were simple mounds of clay that covered the remains of the Buddha.  As time progressed the stupas got larger.  The stupa Jetavanaramaya was one of the tallest structures in the Ancient world.  The foundations of the structure are over 8.5m deep and required bricks that could withstand weights of 166kg.
