Clinker Brick

Clinker Bricks are a kind of brick that have been heated to higher temperatures than normal bricks.  This extra temperature means that the bricks are darker in colour, but they are also heavier, and take up less water than ordinary bricks.  In the 1920s architects discovered that clinkers worked well for detailing.
