Coming home

On Monday there was something of an historic event in Northern Ireland. For the first time a species was re-introduced to Northern Ireland. The species in question was the Red Kite. These birds have been absent from the north for the past 200 years but can now be seen once again over the skies of County Down. By all accounts they should be hard to miss with their five foot wingspan and rusty-red feathering. Local residents are encouraged to report any sighting of the birds to the RSPCA.

I shall keep my eyes peeled when I too return to County Down.
